World's LARGEST Slime by a 12 year old girl!

In 2017, then 12-year old slimer Maddie Rae entered the Guiness Book of World Records by creating the largest slime the world has ever seen. It was 6 tons.

Slime was introduced to the world by the popular toy maker, Mattel in 1976! It was green & gross looking.

Slime is a cross-linked polymer and is classified as a liquid. It is also classified as a Non-Newtonian fluid.

SLIME GLOSSARY

 

Activator = a term used to describe the necessary fluids in making Slime.

​

Avalanche Slime = a clear slime that has been mixed with approximately 10-50% of white Slime to achieve a swirled "avalanche" effect

​

Borax = An important ingredient in making Slime activator which helps bind the glue particles together to form Slime. Humans have mined and used borax (also known as sodium tetraborate) since its discovery in Persia more than 4,000 years ago. Borax is a naturally occurring mineral found in concentration in dried salt lake beds, and consists of water, sodium, boron and oxygen. 

 

Blennophobia = the irrational and persistent fear of slime or mucous-like substances.

Butter Slime = a white or clear Slime base that has added clay to achieve a buttery, spreadable consistency.

 

Cloud Slime = a white based Slime that has been infused with a generous amount of instant snow powder that has been hydrated to various effects

​

Cloud Creme/Creme Slime = A Cloud Slime with added hydrated instant snow powder and sometimes air dry clay to help achieve an airy, creamy Slime experience.

 

Cloud Dough Slime = A cloud Slime that is created more dense and wet than normal Cloud Slime which does not drizzle and gives the user a “doughy” feeling when playing with it.

 

Fishbowl Slime = a clear-based Slime that has approximately 50-80% of  “fishbowl” or “pony” style beads inside to help give the Slime a crunchy texture.

 

Floam Slime = Clear or white-based Slime that has a lot of round foam beads/balls, typically to a ration of 80% beads to 20% Slime

 

Fluid - is a term used for anything that can flow; gases, liquids, and non-Newtonian fluids.

 

Glossy Slime = A white-based Slime that has the addition of various ingredients (clear glue, baby oil, etc) to help achieve a “glossy” mirror like effect in slime.

 

Icee Slime = A clear based Slime that has a generous amount of hydrated instant snow powder to help give the Slime a “frosty” / “ice” consistency.

 

Instant Snow Powder = An ingredient found in Cloud, Icee & Jelly Slime. Instant snow powder is made of cross-linking molecules of sodium polyacrylate polymer.

 

Jelly Slime = A clear based Slime that has a touch of hydrated instant snow powder to help give the Slime a “jelly” texture.

 

Jelly Cube Slime = A clear based slime that has cut up melamine erasers inside that gives the creator/user the ability to squish the sponges inside the Slime.

 

Newtonian Fluid =  is a fluid whose viscosity is not affected by stress. Water is a Newtonian fluid.

 

Polymer = A giant molecule formed by linking many small molecules together with chemical bonds.

 

Science = is a way of organizing what we already know and learning more by experiments.

 

Scientist = a person who uses the scientific method to learn more about the world around us.

 

Slimeologist = a person who studied slime to understand all of its various components including scientific make-up and history.

 

Slushee Slime = A Slime that has the addition of plastic bean bag pellets inside to help give the user a crunch Slime experience.

 

Snow Fizz Slime = A Slime that adds fake plastic snow which produces a very “sizzly” sounding Slime.

 

S.T. E. A. M. = An educational approach that incorporates the arts into the more-familiar STEM model, which includes science, technology, engineering and mathematics. STEAM programs can include any of the visual or performing arts, such as dance, design, painting, photography and writing.

 

Sugar Scrub Slime = A clear Slime that has the addition of very small beads commonly called “diamond fillers” which is a common base filler found in many craft stores.

 

Thick = A term used in the Slime community to describe an overtly thick slime.
